Treatment Options for Menopausal Symptoms

Menopause is essentially the end of a woman’s reproductive life. It is a natural event that every woman will face sometime in their 40s or 50s. However, it can also occur earlier or later depending on several circumstances. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been the standard treatment for menopause for a long time since it is by far the most effective. The problem with HRT is that it increases risk of heart disease and breast cancer so many healthcare providers and women prefer alternative treatments for menopause.Treatments for Menopausal Symptoms

One of the most popular alternative treatments to menopause is a lifestyle makeover. This involves eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and avoiding unhealthy vices like smoking and drinking. Studies indicate that certain foods can cause menopausal symptoms to become severe. This includes spicy and high fat foods. Also, caffeine intake should be controlled since it can also make menopausal symptoms worse.

Another popular alternative treatment is combining a lifestyle makeover with natural menopause relief supplements. These pills contain ingredients that help increase the body’s natural estrogen and progesterone production to natural levels. Low levels of these hormones is the main cause of menopausal symptoms so regulating hormone levels alleviates and may even get rid of such symptoms.
